Beach Cafe began life as a day-trip to Weymouth in 1975 or thereabouts and became a ballad, of sorts, thirty-five years later and then a poem in the New Yorker. Now it's a ballad again, waiting for its final reincarnation as a return trip to Weymouth, which hasn't changed much and still has beach cafes. And prize-winning donkeys.
